Past Love

Past Love
It appeared, for the longest time, that I was over you.
Each day my mind would bury your memory,
Continualy obsturing your face and your touch.
I began to shift my gaze.
I started looking straight ahead.
The past was to my back.

But most recently, from the depths of my mind,
You sprang forth!
Now I am once again at a crossroad.
Which path should I take?
That is the only question that is on my mind.
It devours my whole being.

To my right;
It is a life of hardships,
But in the darkness you'll be there.
Embracing, pushing away our troubles.
And that is all we would need, each other.
Mediocrady, but love.

And to my left;
Life like the gentle flow of a river.
Lonely but easy going.
Walking in solidarity, being content.
And I will ever long for more.
Exceptional, but alone.

Thoughs are my options, but I am stuck
Looking at the diverging road.
[Blank Verse]

"Definition

A type of poetry, distinguished by having a regular meter, but no rhyme. In English, the meter most commonly used with blank verse has been iambic pentameter. The iambic pentameter form often resembles the rhythms of speech. Verse that does not employ a rhyme scheme. Blank verse, however, is not the same as free verse because it employs a meter e.g. Paradise Lost by John Milton which is written in iambic pentameters."

a  large landfill of lost lives and lost love.

"Definition

A poem written about one self's life, personality traits, and ambitions."

I Shall Return (Sonnet)

I Shall Return
My only thought as I stand here and ponder
is to what, my love, the thoughts that shall wonder
throughout your mind in my coming absence,
for I wish to be with you at any expense.

But Death has got me
in his tight grasp, so there cannot be,
any escape, anyway to eschew from my fate,
now that I am looking at Hell's gate.

Please do not shed tears with my leave,
for it is only the world that shall misperceive
that I am gone, but every moment I will be there,
watching over, protecting you, so don't despair.

And in this state that I am forced to be,
I shall concoct a plan to flee.

Lyric poems that are 14 lines that usually have one or more conventional rhyme schemes."

The Way It Used To Be (Classicism)

http://www.sxc.hu/photo/784876

The Way It Used To Be
Rushing to take a stand for what is right,
Using the gifts from above to strenghen your stance,
Throwing your fist in the air and yelling with all your might,
Caring more for your partner, than the steps in life's dance.
Rebelling against tyrants, at any moment ready to fight.
Immortalizing your names in history, given the chance,
Those are the things I miss in this world, that's so contrite.
The past paved a beautiful road, which we've used to advance.

Classicism
Definition by Poetrysoup,

"Poetry which holds the principles and ideals of beauty that are characteristic of Greek and Roman art, architecture, and literature."

Sailor Boys (Limerick)

Sailor Boys
The sailor boys all play fun games
It was cute to see them get dames.
Some would get a kiss,
While others would miss,
Not even getting their names.

This is my only Limerick poem, and to be honest it's the only one I'll write. I don't like the fact that it's supposed to be funny, don't get me wrong I write funny poems all the time, but it's just something about limericks that just doesn't sit right (I sound pretty stupid).

As always the following it from Poetrysoup.

"Definition

A limerick is a five-line, often humorous and ribald poem with a strict meter. Lines 1, 2, and 5 of have seven to ten syllables (three metrical feet) and rhyme with one another. Lines 3 and 4 have five to seven (two metrical feet) syllables and also rhyme with each other. The rhyme scheme is usually "A-A-B-B-A"."

America, The Age of Conflict (ABC Poem)

America, the land of the free, catering to the wealthy and pushing the poor.
Blacks are all but exempt; they are seen as property and nothing more.
California brought into this nation by gold, as a false equality,
Demanded by some to spread the systems of vast irrationality.
Extradition in compromise to abolition.
Fugitives thrown back to chains, complete pacification.
Grace, all too fallen from, that was this nation.
Humble as many others were, one woman changed the nation.
Illegal activities by abolitionist became the norm, in hopes to stop degradation.
Johns and Janes educated in the taboo subject of the naive.
Kings and knights replaced with tyrannicals and elderly slaves.
Liberty and freedom for all,
Men and woman, Black and White, all readying to fall.
Night falls, creating a stage for the quarrelsome show.
Oppositions face each other, their bodies ready to feed the coming crows.
Position between this and that,
Quarrelling over the proper way to skin a cat.
Runaways are forgotten for the time being,
Say it so, as many were fleeing.
Tackless politicians following a false tradition,
Utilitarian, one may say, on their decision.
Vicious out cries spread across the nation following
White men's decision to take a stand being,
Xecute the evils of the world.
Yells coming from each side, each saying they are more moral'd.
Zephyrs blow across the grasses, to contrast what is to come.
This was an assignment for A.P. United States History my junior year in high school. I actually got a terrible grade on it (the lowest in the class), so I guess it's not that good. It's about the events (in general) leading up to the Civil War.

The Form
The information below is from Poetrysoup.

"Definition See note below: Poetry in which every word begins with a successive letter of the alphabet. The first word begins with A, the second with B, etc. (OR) A poem that has 5 lines that create a mood, picture, or feeling. Lines 1 through 4 are made up of words, phrases or clauses - and the first word of each line is in alphabetical order from the first word. Line 5 is one sentence, beginning with any letter. Note: ABC as a form has been used to describe anything from an Abecedarian poem (above), to an Acrostic poem, and other things. ABC typically has been used as a catch-all for sequential alphabet poems that may not necessarily use the entire alphabet like an Abecedarian poem. So, in reality, "ABC" is just an acrostic poem using successive letters of the alphabet per line or stanza."

The Girl I Love

This poem wasn't meant for anyone in particular but, and I'm not exactly sure about this, exactly one year after writing this poem I met my current girlfriend. See I'm a really lucky guy, I got the girl I really liked (and had a crush on); but I'm a coward and waited until she asked me out [but I'm so glad she did (: ]. But either way I'm glad I'm with her, she's perfect in every way and I love her.

The Girl I love
There is a girl I love,
She is perfect in every way.
Though there is a line to her heart, I will not shove.
My love will shine brightest, I pray,
That she will notice it,
And from that I must commit,
To be the same even after her decision is made.
I will be the shoulder she cries on,
I will be the tree that give her shade.
And from will come the dawn.
The girl I love will one day see,
That there is none kinder than me.

There is a rhyme scheme but I don't think it follows a particular form.

Color Blind

This is probably by favorite non-rhyme poem I have written. The meaning behind it isn't hidden, the average reader could read it and understand what I was trying to convey. It's for those reason why I like it so much.

It has come to be all so apparent,
That life is so bleak and desolate.
My world has fallen over with nothing to remain.
Oh, how I long to once again,
Be in that ignorant bless,
So that I may once again live.

Your red lips have faded to
A gloom infested perpetual grey.
Those blue eyes that I once so loved,
That I would wake to,
Have vanished into the haze of black and grays.
You are a blank canvas to my eyes.

I will forever see the world,
Not as it is wanted, but needed.
The colors have faded, the sharpness gone,
But the shape remains true.
I am not blinded by the beauty,
But presented the form.

On my knees begging, I am here,
Once again wanting
Ignorance over fact, beauty over pragmatism.
Oh, how I want see the facade of beauty,
And never inner workings of it.
Oh, how I want to be shallow and see beauty.
