May Sickness (Chapter 3)

Chapter 3
…so much despair.
The memories they shared, the thoughts of love, everything exited his mind. Darkness surrounded him, vision escaped from his being. Felix could no longer hear Rose’s pleas, her anguished moans. The strength in his legs gave out, no longer able to support his body. Felix reached for stability, in his blind, weaken state he found the wall he had just been leaning against. What’s going on? She needs my help!
The man ran his hand along Rose’s waist. He caressed her breast. She continually cried, crying from the pain, the humiliation, and the helplessness.

She let out a cry, “Help me! Someone help! Please stop!”
Those walking by continued on their way. Thoughts of helping that poor girl were pushed from their minds, to give room for their wants and needs. The value of one girl's life was miniscule; her fate meant nothing to them and nothing to the world.
Her attacker then said with a smile, “Well girl, it seems like no ones going to help you.” It was true, Rose knew it. She just hoped Felix would not do anything precipitous or anything that would put him in danger. As long as nothing happens to him, I’ll be okay.
The man’s hand sled down her pants and…
What is this? I can see them, no I can feel them. I can feel everything, but why? Felix could see everything that was occurring, not just in front of him, he could see everything; above him, below him, behind him, he could see everything. The people watching television in the buildings around him, chefs cooking in restaurants, people eating, people fighting, people killing, people screwing, everything. Felix no longer felt those emotions; sorrow, pity, helplessness, he felt at peace, calm even in harmony with the world around him and the people around him.
Felix could easily hear the irritating thoughts of those passing by, raping a girl in broad daylight, that bastard must be retarded. Someone will help her, what can I do that one has a gun. Someone will stop to help her.
What the hell! No one is stopping to help! He had to find a way to help Rose, his body still paralyzed, not from fear, but from something else, anger.
Yeah make a move you bastard, I’ll fucking shot you. The one in black thought as he still held the gun pointed at Felix’s head.
Screwing this bitch is going to feel so damn good!
Please, just run away. I don’t want you to die!The pious thought of a true saint, so touching, so selfless. That thought showed Felix Rose was too good for him, she was too good for everyone, especially that squalid piece of human refuse touching her.
“How dare you say that! I would rather die, than run away while you get hurt!” Felix was no longer leaning his body against the wall. The strength in his legs had returned, he could see again, he could hear, and he still felt everything. He stood there, staring at the man defiling the woman he loved, not paying any attention to the man aiming a gun at him.
“What did you say motherfucker? Ain’t no one talking. Get the hell out of here.” With his gun he motioned toward the sidewalk. Felix did not look at or even acknowledge the man, or his words. “You deaf?! Look at me when I’m talking to…” He stopped, Felix had started to walk toward him.
As Felix walked, he slid his hand across the wall. The underlying surface disintegrated as his hand went across it. Large portions of brick fell to the ground, only to break down into smaller and smaller pieces, and eventually dust before they reached their destination.
The gun was pointed, its barrel's path directly at Felix’s head.
Bang! The bullet sped through the air, traveling on a direct route to its target.
Inches away from his skull, the bullet stopped. The outer copper coat dissolved away, leaving the lead core. It then, as the copper did, dissolved. A copper and lead powder fell to Felix’s feet.
“What the fu…” Again the man’s words were cut short, Felix’s hand was in front of his face.
Felix’s hand slowly pressed against the gunman’s face.
Felix slammed the man’s head against the wall. With so such force, the front of his skull failed, followed be the sides. Sharp pieces of bone ripped through skin, with that the gray matter found a point to escape the pressure. Blood sprayed onto Felix’s face, while some ran down the wall and collected on the ground.
The body fell, a nearly headless corpse lying in a pool of its own blood.
The man released Rose, and started to walk backward. He looked at the body of his companion. “Please do…” he started to speak, but was interrupted.
“How many times… how many times did she beg you to stop?!” Felix yelled as he started to approach the man. Rose stared at the body before her.
“Please dude just wait,” the man begged. He was staring at Felix, then… Felix disappeared. “Where the hell?”
Felix was in front of the man, he placed his hand on the man’s stomach. The man started to talk, “Pleasss,” Blood ran from his mouth, and down his neck.
”You will die in the most painful of ways!”
His arms, starting from the tips of his finger started to be ripped apart. The skin sheared from muscle, muscle from bone and the bone then being crushed. Like a million tiny hands grabbing bits and pieces, then ripping them off. Blood sprayed onto the sides of the buildings.
“Aaaaaaah!” The man let out a deafening scream. A bloody mist filled the air. Rose sat on the ground, watching the events transpiring. Droplets of blood started to form on her face.
His legs, just as his arms, started to be ripped apart. His body, not falling to the ground with the departure of his legs, stayed lingering in the air.
“Aaaaah! Whaatttt Thhhee fuuuuckkk!” Still conscious he yelled, his voice cracked, bloody tears surged from his eyes.
“Aren’t you a noisy little prick!” Felix smiled as he said those words. His clothes pass the point of saturation, with blood trickling from them. With the man’s bleeding body as the epicenter, a puddle of blood, yards across, engulfed the alley.
The rain still fell, making ripples in the blood.
The man’s body became numb, he no longer cried. “So what will you do now?” He asked in a rhetorical manner, trying to instill some guilt in Felix.
“What will I do? I’m going to fucking kill you!” And with that he did. The man’s abdomen exploded, a mass of blood, globs of meat, and mangled organs flew through the air, some hitting the buildings, while others were thrown down the alley.
His head, or more so his bust, fell to the ground. Felix stepped on it, crushing it. His skull cracked and eventually failed, falling into the brain cavity, crushing its content. Blood came from his remaining orifices. Unlike that his friends, the flesh of his skull was not torn by jagged pieces of bone, more his head resembled that of a crushed aluminum can.
“Rose are you okay?” Felix looked down at Rose, she was shaking and did not look at him. “Here,” He reached out his hand, “come on.” She grabbed his hand and he helped her up.
Felix embraced her in his arms, “I’m so sorry.”
Rose looked into his eyes, “Thank you, I love you so much.” Tears continued to flow from her eyes, cutting a trail through her blood covered cheeks.
“I love you too, I love you more than anything.” He was also crying. They embraced in each others arms, emotions flowing, listening to the dulcet sound of each others breathing and heart beat. In that state for quite some time, they did not acknowledge the world around them, Felix ignored the happenings around him and just concentrated on Rose and she did the same.
As they left the warm, protection of each others arms, Felix noticed something.
In front of the alley a cluster of people had started to congregate. How long have they been there? Did they see what happened, what I did?
“Rose,” His voice composed.
“Yes?” She asked.
“We need to get out of here.” He said in a calm voice, trying not to upset her.
“Why?” But as she turned, she could see the reason.
“Let’s go!” Felix held her hand and ran toward the street.
On the sidewalk they ran through the crowd, but…
…but as they ran through the crowd they did not notice what was truly happening.
The droplets of rain stayed suspended in the air. The men and women on the sidewalks lay frozen in their tracks, like statues, they acted only as obstacles to run around. The gas vapor, in combustion engines, remained partially ignited. The spray of the puddles tires ran through remained in air. The stream on blood in the alley stopped flowing. Even the blood flowing in the veins of every individual stopped. Electrons moving through copper wire were frozen, no longer moving, and so much more remained static. Time frozen and Rose and Felix did not seem to notice. They continued to run, they ran in fear, they ran for survival, but to them they were together and nothing else was more important.
If they knew the manner in which the Gears of Fate were turning, life would have been much more saturnine, even making that rainy night darker.
From within the darkness, men and women dressed in black hooded cloaks materialized. Their faces were concealed within the shadows cast by their hoods. The halting of time did not seem to affect them. They walked through the streets, walking into droplets of rain, their cloaks retaining the moisture. The physical world seemed to be affected by them, puddles splashed as they stepped in them, the physical interaction was their only attachment to the world.
It was when Felix saw these people in black that he finally noticed what was happening, he stopped. He could no longer feel or hear the heart beats of the men and women in the street.
“What’s going on?” Rose asked as she finally noticed, she reached out and touched a drop of rain. She turned to Felix, as she began to notice the hooded people. “Felix who are these people?”
“I don’t know… I don’t know.” He did not want to frighten Rose, but the black hooded people were surrounding them.
