Franken Fran Manga Review

Franken Fran Manga Review

Woot! Second review, and it's of a really good manga too! It is one of the few manga that I've consistently read that is Pure-ish Gore. I mean that it is sickenly grotesque, you'll see ^o^. I'm not quite sure how long this review will be, so I'll just write and see where this goes.

So lets get to the story! Franken Fran follows the "adventures" of Fran Madaraki, Fran is a surgeon that resemble's Frankenstein's monster, in that she has stitches all over her body and bolts in her head. The series is episodic, with you being able to randomly pick a chapter and you'll, for the most part, understand it. The story set up is usually like this; person has a problem and goes to Fran for help; then either they have the money to pay or Fran is so touched by their problem she does it for free; She then for the most part helps them, "shit" happens and theres an ironic ending, either good or bad. And that's it. It may sound boring, repetitive and dull; but in reality the stories are interesting, fun, gory, and informative (because it's based around medicine, the stories focus around fringe/protoscience medical theories and theoritical practices). The stories are different. I guess you could say there is a lot of "Black Humor".
All the covers are Hot! So Sexy!

Even with the nature of the manga, the characters are drawn in a cute style, with really realistic and detailed gore being mixed in (either during medical operations, fights, or other stuff). The characters are farely "round", however, "static". We see them displaying many emotions, but they really don't change dramaticly.
Right after "My Balls" this is in my list of manga that need to be made into an anime... but I don't nessessarily see that happening anytime soon.

Da Fuck!

I was quite sad when it ended, not because the ending was sad, but because it was such a great manga I wanted to read it for a few more years. But I quess that's where a good manga ends and a bad one begins, knowing when to stop. Short and sweet vs long and sour.
I seriously recommend Franken Fran! As long as you don't have a weak stomache, you should read it or atleast think about it.
That's -^ a good example of how much gore there is... well actually it's really watered-down compared to other scenes.

^-This might be a better example of the gore ^-^.

So I quess this review wasn't that long.

Summary by MangaHere:
Fran can make anyone into anything, raise the dead, switch heads and bodies, and give you those eyes that you've always wanted. But do you actually want them? Is it a good thing to raise the dead? Do the ends justify the means? And does Fran care? Warning: some chapters have guro content
