The story focus around three groups of kids and their weapons (the weapons also being kids, I'll explain later). In the world of Soul Eater there are monsters and spirits and stuff. Now these kids go to a school where they learn about "stuff" not quite sure how to explain it. I think of the kids as being in two groups; the weapon and the holder. The weapon is a person who was the ability of turning into a weapon, like scythes, guns and swords. The holder, or "Meister" work with their weapon buddy to do the job of the Grim Reaper. They go around and kill evil people and collect their souls, with the end goal of making their weapon the strongest and being the personal weapon of Death (who is an awesome dude). The goal is to collect 99 evil souls and 1 soul of a witch (which are uber powerful). That's that general plot, I could talk about the characters but I don't see a need to. The teams are introduced indivualy in the first three episodes, each with their own little querks and idiosyncrasies. Now as a words of warning to any haters on filler endings and such, I've heard that like half way through it pulls a Fullmetal Alchemist, diverging from the manga. However, I don't quite know the degree... sorry.
Death-^
The art is "fun" (Like the sun and moon have faces, and the buildings have a Halloween-y vibe which is really nice), and at first glance one wouldn't think that the series is violent or has any seriousness... But it does! Simply put, though Soul Eater is extremely funny, extremely; for every gag and joke, there is an extremely epic fight! Extreme! The character style is also unique, not to realistic I quess, but really manga-y/anime-y.
I watched Soul Eater at about 4-6 episodes at a time, and never once did I force myself to watch. The damnedest thing is while I was watching it, time flew. An episode seems more like 10 minutes long rather than 25. I really recommended it, it has everything; fights, mild nudity, jokes, violence, mild nudity. The characters are funny, and badass when serious.

Besides taking the time to gather souls these students of Shibusen defend Death City from some of the most powerful of creatures while still attending school and trying to become stronger.
